300 Years Before Color Art Prints-Limited Edition of 300 copies-
This is a limited edition of 20 art prints in 10,6 x 16,5 in format, with some of the drawings made by the artist creator in 1692 of “Le Traité des couleurs servant à la peinture à l’eau”, the most complete guide to painting and color of his time, of which only one copy exists in the world, and which was 300 years ahead of its time, when the Pantone color guide was invented in 1962.
From the 900 completely hand-written and hand-painted pages, we have selected the twenty-four most spectacular art prints to create the most exclusive collection of the art of color in the world.
You can decorate the walls of your home and office with a combination of elegance, light and color, or simply collect them in the artist portfolio we have created for this edition, numbered from 1 to 300.
Only 300 copies in limited edition for the whole world, in homage to the approximate time in which the Dutch artist anticipated the invention of Pantone, it is also a way of paying tribute to this splendid didactic guide of which only one copy exists, and which was probably seen by very few people. This is because in 1692 the printing press did not yet have the technology to print such a treatise. We would have to wait another hundred years before it could be reproduced with any reliability, through lithography.
Otherwise, it would have served as an indispensable tool for more than one artist during the following centuries.
A new ode to color and Pantone: the essential color guide in the universe of creativity and design whose use has transcended centuries to remain a fundamental tool in the contemporary era.
** many of our 300yearsbeforecolor.com limited edition buyers had expressed to us the desire to have some art prints in a larger format. Not only for the pleasure of collecting them, but also for their uniqueness and beauty, and to decorate their favorite space.

As someone who’s works in color in real life and online—this facsimile reproduction of the 1692 “Bible of Color” is somehow life-affirming. I bought it for myself as a gift and I was not disappointed. The presentation and execution of the object is impeccable. Bravo!
