THE STORY · C. 1411 — 2027
Six Centuries. One Extraordinary Manuscript.
Commissioned around 1411 by Jean, Duke of Berry, the Très Riches Heures brought together some of the greatest artists of the late Middle Ages. Left unfinished after the deaths of the Duke and the Limbourg brothers in 1416, the manuscript was continued by later masters and completed over the following decades. Today it is preserved at the Musée Condé in Chantilly as one of the supreme achievements of medieval illumination.
“The Très Riches Heures is a cinematic document, a visual presentation that reveals the life of an age.”
